Bit of a tangent here, but have we not noticed the total consumerization of activism? Everything has to be about "raising awareness," because "awareness" is an exercise in pure consumption — and everyone is too cowed, insecure or lazy to take on the responsibility of generativity

I also find it amusing that we still treat things like an awareness problem. Each day more new articles with the same words, more protests, and more haranguing of in-groups trying to make the same point.

Contrarian view: aren't the candidates usually all known for one or two main policies to help brand themselves? Vagaries of bemoaning the entire set of problems seems like first-level attention grabbing in order to stand out, as a forced move.
