Have you cooked the boy some white rice and diced chicken thighs? Bagged dog food is kind of shit, even the pricey stuff. I feed it to my dog as more of a snack for lunch and then he would eat my food for dinner (what dogs have done for 12,000yrs)
I have done the chicken and rice thing; he does OK short-run, but he still has digestive issues if I don't calibrate the chicken-rice ratio properly, and meanwhile my other dog tends to gain a lot of weight on the same diet

Yeah, changes in diet can do that. They just have to try and acclimate. Just try and be careful about super fatty stuff. Like, my dog couldn't eat canned dog food. It would make him really sick. So, he just had to eat people food..and cheese. Loved cheese
