Science, often, just has to work within the restraints of capitalism. Project wait for funding; shelved eternally regardless of how they may benefit humanity.
Brilliant minds conducted all of these projects — within the ecosystem that made room for them. You're not going to get a business loan or a grant for a moonshot. Maybe you think passionate people are yours to shackle as you like. I don't.

The system is the shackle when projects, as they often do, go unfunded. It's government, the collective, that funds most of them because we're not looking for money in our micro/telescopes. We're looking for our future. Whereas business, like pharma, is looking for their next $.
