People go into serious debt trying to make these companies work. When they can, they reinvest their own gains or seek funds from investors who've been through the same grind. There's no business loan for a moonshot. There are very few grants for expensive passion projects.
If you don't understand how this ecosystem works, you don't rip the process apart and still expect to reap the upside.

The ecosystem for innovation is rich, complex, multivariate. Ripping apart processes is part of innovation. Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity ripped apart Newtonian ecosystem and spawned new technologies.

But not everything is Theoretical Physics or Software. How much do you think it costs to build badly needed housing such as high rise Apartment Buildings? Many endeavors require massive capital commitments up front. Think manufacturing plants and infrastructure improvements.
