I'm often a pedestrian, and I gotta say: yes, a distracted or aggressive driver can kill ya, but it seems to me that a distracted or aggressive cyclist can still fuck you up pretty badly, and as a percentage by vehicle type I'm noticing a lot more of the latter lately

Because there is no infrastructure for cyclists, they are forced into urban design that heavily favors cars, which are FAR more dangerous. If they had dedicated rights of way you wouldn't have that problem.

Agree 100%, and I'm extremely supportive of better bike infrastructure, but this doesn't justify cruising through crosswalks on a red light or speeding around on urban sidewalks, esp. where there's low visibility at corners. This really is entitled behavior.

The “safety-conscious “ cyclists, as you call them, are deterred by cars, not by other bikes. I count myself as one of those ppl who would love to ride but don’t want to be hit by a two-ton suv speeding down a city street

Yes. You seem to really want to believe that I'm pro-car and anti-bike when I think I've been extremely clear that I just don't want to be struck by either of them.
