I'm often a pedestrian, and I gotta say: yes, a distracted or aggressive driver can kill ya, but it seems to me that a distracted or aggressive cyclist can still fuck you up pretty badly, and as a percentage by vehicle type I'm noticing a lot more of the latter lately
IMO, part of the problem is that a dangerous environment dissuades a lot of safety-conscious cyclists, increasing the % on urban streets who aren't averse to risk. If you're behaving recklessly, better that you're on a bike than in a car, but that doesn't justify the recklessness

Better bike infrastructure wouldn’t matter one bit; cyclists don’t respect infrastructure. They alternate at will between using car and pedestrian rights-of-way. To avoid them, you must always assume that they’ll do whatever is expedient for them in the moment.
