I'm often a pedestrian, and I gotta say: yes, a distracted or aggressive driver can kill ya, but it seems to me that a distracted or aggressive cyclist can still fuck you up pretty badly, and as a percentage by vehicle type I'm noticing a lot more of the latter lately

No, there's an appropriate sense of responsibility. If you want to convince anyone bikes are more comparatively dangerous to cars, get some stats that show it (hint: you can't).

You don't get to swing wildly just because you're holding a bat instead of a gun.

It's also a complaint that's often used to stop programs like bikeshares and protected bike Lanes, that save people's lives (both directly and by getting people out of cars). This isn't a low-stakes complaint, and the people opposing you aren't being petty.

I'm supportive of better infrastructure for bikes in the city. I don't personally feel safe cycling in the city and I consider that a real loss. But it's not OK to risk hitting pedestrians to avoid adding a few minutes to your commute, whether you're in a car or on a bike.

I as well notice this. Seldom see them stop at stop signs/lights, even when pedestrians have right of way. Alarming percentage now with headphones on or texting(!). it’s bananas
