Switch to emoji reactions, like slack. (This may be a bad idea; I've spent very little time critiquing it)

I think some changes could be good. Theoretically consolidating our options to interact with tweets/ideas, it seems we have 3 main options:
1. Comment
2. Share: retweet, rt w/ comment, q/t, h/t, new app/media/forum
3. Emote: liking, +more = situationally appropriate - 3 more replies

Keep the hearts and add a dislike button as well.

I want to be able to see who likes other people's tweets, but I want it to be much harder to see 'likes' on my own.

Online interaction is already feedback-poor. Removing this small unequivocally positive piece of feedback makes that worse and also seems like the wrong part of feedback to cut down on.

What if we had something akin to the reactions that facebook has? Also, do you feel it would help if likes / retweets were hidden by default until the user clicked the tweet / revealed them?

No because I have a sense of dread that they’d foul it up and all the things I’ve liked to eventually get round to looking at would disappear in a puff of smoke.

I want up- and down-votes, and counts of both, at least privately. Even negative feedback makes this feel less like shouting into the void.
