You can see an instance of the process of reciprocal extremism that’s affecting so much right now. The political utility of children creates demand to treat them either as super-adults or moral cargo, and the idea of childhood as subordinate but dignified and valuable disappears.

I think kids would make *better* decisions pertaining to schooling than adults, because they're both experientially much closer to it and because they are currently + for some time the direct consumers. But on just about everything else they've been forced out of those roles
