This is reasonable, but the people I have talked to that are passionately against abortions when push comes to shove have said they believed it was wrong from the moment of conception. It's a case for us as a culture not to divide into camps like "pro-life" and "pro-choice".
Horseshoe theory at work; neither extreme wants to cede that fetal development is a critical factor https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseshoe_theory …
Hey, reading the linked story, it seems she knew about the pregnancy but not about the serious health issues the baby had. Seems a case of butchering the article by the AP social media team?
The woman whose story is covered in the first part of the print story (Hevan Lunsford) is not the woman in the video (Beth Vial), whose story the tweet is referencing. Vial doesn't mention any problems with the pregnancy, aside from not knowing she had one
It seems like a cop out to cite some magical, undefined level of development as the relativistic basis for the rights of individualism. It reads like people recognizing that it’s a hard problem, and just punting, throwing their hands up in mock bafflement.
Tough cookies; at one end you've got a single diploid cell, and at the other end you've got a newborn infant. "It seems like what's going on between those is pretty morally relevant" isn't magical thinking
I was born at 25 weeks. 3.3 pounds.
This is ridiculous. Killing a viable fetus for reasons other than risk of death or low likelihood of survival isn't "progressive." It's just killing a kid. The leading cause of death in the US is abortion, but they say guns are a problem.
I have serious qualms about forcing women to give birthhttps://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/apr/18/late-term-abortion-experience-donald-trump …
And this is at the point where an abortion (killing the fetus before getting it out) is possibly no more burdensome on the woman than getting the fetus out alive.
