If a carbon tax raised prices for meat, how much of an increase would be costly enough (to you personally or to populations you care about, e.g. lower income families) that you would be uncomfortable supporting it?

In the humid regions, it is better than burning the grasslands. In arid regions, fire would be a natural part of the regeneration of grasslands to restart the process of sequestration.
Seems very feasible that you'd get better results with non-cleared natural grassland + low-density/rotational grazing

Large parts of the arid southwest are choked with cedar and mesquite because they are fire suppressed. For the humid areas, high density rotational grazing with adequate rest is needed for improving the soil health.

With better soil health, grass yields improve and more carbon is sequestered.
