Could you do carbon tax brackets? Like your percentage is different based on your income.

The tax is imposed at the level of the producer — essentially a reverse-subsidy that'd raise prices. The government has no standing to mandate that grocery stores sel products on a sliding scale

I think people would switch to animals other than cows, like chicken or pigs that are more environmentally friendly; Now that you pose the question, I wonder what the prices would be under existing estimate of proposed carbon taxes:https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-carbon-tax-on-meat/ …

Yeah, it's complicated! One thing I worry about is that from an animal welfare perspective, cattle ranching is arguably much less harmful than either chicken or pig farming

I'm against further government policies based on the principle of killing poor people faster and appropriating their wealth through regressive taxation and the captured healthcare industry, which would of course expand under this policy. Wbu?

I'm imagining a blanket tax, but I also don't know if these numbers are reasonable. I'm pulling them from memory from an article I read a while back anticipating something like +5-15% for chicken & +20-40% for beef

Before ramping up taxation, I'd first remove all government subsidies and see if this industry can even stand on it's own legs.
