Isn't that tweet calling for equal action on both fronts, not condemning advocating for self-defense?

Imagine a friendly Canadian small town neighbourhood, where no one locks their doors. Suddenly, there is a spree of burglaries. Jane advises her neighbours to lock their doors to reduce the likelihood that they get burgled.

John responds: 'When you tell me to lock my door, you're not reducing burgles. You're just saying "let them break in to someone else's house." Stop calling for dystopias. Start working to end burgles. Make a world BEYOND BURGLARY.' Is John being reasonable?

Both Jane and John are being reasonable? Jane is saying — hey, let's defend ourselves from burglars John is saying — hey, let's ensure there are no burglars

I can see how the way John has phrased his statement can _seem_ like a condemnation, but directly speaking, it isn't. It's more of a "this isn't enough nor practical enough for everyone."

You can't seriously claim it's not a condemnation.

I don't know why anyone would choose this particular trashfire to play these bad-faith games with, but I think we're done here
