went through something adjacent and it blows my mind even now, all things considered, that it took anyone so long to figure out something had gone really wrong.

That’s impressive, I thought my -6.5 and -6.0 were bad. Maybe I would have learned better social skills if I had an extra -2

@EricRWeinstein my teachers persistently hassled my parents about having me put on drugs to turn me into a zombie so I wouldn't be hyper and question their reasoning. Fortunately, they know medicine and refused to drug me to make their job easier. -
Instead, I got familiar with sitting in hallways. The principal's office, detention, and "A-School"

same, -9.0 I used to hold books really close to my face, my parents realised something was up when, after reading a book about spiders, i got paranoid that every dark spot on the carpet was a spider and tried to jump over it

I'm -9.25 and -8.5 and I have the same story. I didn't get glasses until 7th grade. By then everyone (classmates) knew I needed them because I always looked at what people beside me were writing down when the teacher put something on the blackboard.I feared being a 4eyes so much!

Being nearsighted or farsighted just explains whether your focus range is near or far.
Correcting through glasses, lenses, or surgery simply adjusts the range, but doesn’t expand it. As you age, the range shrinks (presbyopia).
