anecdotally yes most of my Mormon friends who did US-based missions primarily targeted lapsed members wonder if the foreign missions target more new converts

I've had several in-depth discussions with Mormon missionaries where I tried to show them the ways of our prophet Julia Galef. They were great about it. I wish there were social norms in place for respectful door-to-door evangelizing for effective altruism or something.
