"Do you believe in God?" "I do not, nope." "Right on." I mean I'm not becoming a Mormon but I could learn so much from these people re: not starting bar fights

Look: I'm not in the market for religion. But I have a baseline respect for anyone who navigates this neighborhood in goddamn slacks and a tie, asks peaceable questions and *only* has cards in Spanish, because yes, that's the language most people speak fluently herepic.twitter.com/H5twIlfYHT

Did you check out the Mormon template when they had it open to the public earlier this year?

My dad is a Mormon physician who believes in darwinion evolution; we talk about Popparian evolutionary epistemology and
@DavidDeutschOxf's political theory quite peacefully. It's fun even though I know the faith virus has deeply taken root in his thinking.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

My theory is that members of religions that are not culturally dominant in a specific locale are usually pretty chill. They have everything to gain from friendliness and low pressure tactics.

Having said that I have met a surprising number of chill Mormons. They usually love to talk about scifi.

I got caught by much more annoying Mormon missionaries... twice. First time, smooth bastards ensured I *somehow* ended up with their book. Second time, I was more prepared to talk and spun a detailed yarn about Godel's Incompleteness Theorem. They did not bother me after *that*.

(And no, I literally do not remember when I took the stupid crap -- my beliefs were never changed, ofc, but they knew their body language, for sure)
