Student: Well, [???]. Let society fall. Bret: Well, let society fall — you can't have society fall on a world with 400 nuclear reactors that have to be managed by somebody every day of every week. Society has to deal with its shit, no question. But it can't come apart.
Student: Every single time you said something, you had students, you had faculty of color, women, women faculty tell you maybe you're wrong. Right? So why did you continue? Bret: Well, first of all, I don't think that's how right and wrong works.
Bret: Right and wrong are a matter of reason and logic, and nobody has a claim on these Student: And I think that's the biggest problem that you're having. You're seeing this logic purely in a [...] reasoning way, as a scientist. That's legit. But we are on a liberal arts campus

Student: Why didn't you just shut the fuck up? Bret: [...] I do not believe that we can get to rational answers if there is no diversity of opinion. [...] A system to penalize those with different opinions has emerged, so that it appears that we have consensus — which we don't.
Student with microphone: You all don't give this guy attention, it's what he wants. Bret: We were having a good conversation! ... Other student: It doesn't matter. Don't talk to him, he's just gonna get fired anyways.
Bret: My point is, you keep telling me that I need to understand something about other populations — Student: No! That's not what I said! I said you need to stop demanding that everybody use logic and reason and white forms of knowledge to fucking prove yourself to the world!
