I always like to think ‘1 year’ in the future. That’s as far as I like to plan for scale. Anything more is, like you said, blocking!
The idea that solutions need to scale, when manifesting as an insistence that the plan for scale exist before anything moves out of the proposal stage, will cause novelty to curdle in the shell — to the benefit of institutions that hold scale hostage for permission to gate-keep

Yeah some ideas don't scale and that's fine. Helping your kids with their homework, calling your mom occasionally, putting the seat down, following me on Twitter... These are all great ideas that don't need to scale.
