I will never, ever subject a child to what school was for me. Not to get anyone else the money they want or need, not to make a stand. My father has made very similar arguments to the ones you're making now, and frankly he risked having a dead child.

If the $12,500 average annual funding per student isn't enough to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for children in at least the districts that have it, I don't know what sum will. You see the same dysfunctions in districts that have >$15k or even >$20k per student.
The system is subject to immense bloat and rent-seeking, incentives that work against the well-being of children at every level and a fundamental lack of regard for how incredibly disturbing the situation is for many if not most kids. I appreciate the incrementalists, but I'm out
