      "People's IQs are fixed throughout their life" is simply not true. Child IQ and adult IQ are pretty well-correlated at the population level.       Here's a randomly generated sample with a correlation of 0.66. The closer any one data point is to the dashed line, the closer it is to an example of a "fixed" IQ. There's a clear relationship, but this is not nearly as strong as most people have come to expectpic.twitter.com/RqpQuPkeV4

      Of course, this doesn't *necessarily* imply that there is anything *you* can do to alter your own or your child's IQ trajectory. And it certainly doesn't imply anything about *what* you would do. But it certainly leaves the ground there fertile

      Interesting that the conversation about ways to alter IQ usually hit on "designer babies," but not something like creating drugs that alter the enzymes in the brain that moderate lipids, and certainly not anything that considers how neural or knowledge structures are built outpic.twitter.com/wU7dvv8clm

      Probably, but it should be noted that a drug like this could save lives; it'd potentially cure e.g. Tay Sachs, currently a 100% fatal disease. What could be done with it from there is at the very least solid speculation-fodder. I think people just lack imagination
