You *should* very carefully curate the group of people whose opinion of you matters to you. *Very* carefully. It's more likely than not that these people will shape you more than any other facet of your life. You choose yourself through choosing the people close to you
We're not solitary animals. What at least one other person thinks is arguably the most important thing to care about.
Communication doesn't even need to be two-way. Learn enough of what a wise person thinks, introspect, and you'll accurately surmise what that person would think of you.
