I really dislike "self-care" culture, not because I think it's too indulgent but because it often feels like it's framing the relationship a person should have with themselves like that of a chronically ill patient + a live-in nurse

Most people don't need a live-in nurse, in their homes or in their heads They need someone who loves them to fling the doors open and say "it's a beautiful day, let's climb trees by the lake"

I'd say most people do need a live-in-nurse equivalent structure and are lucky if implementing one inside their head is sufficient.
