For what it's worth, the Kochs are among the few big ticket donors I'm aware of who've noticed the madness of the current metrics-driven, child-crushing paradigm in schooling & started trying to do something about it. I don't expect the death cultists to care, but I do.https://twitter.com/brad_polumbo/status/1164916855204659201 …

In case you haven't noticed, I actually do believe the things that I say, including that most early education is the psychological equivalent of a neuter performed on a child's brain. I'm disturbed by how many people follow me thinking that I'm soft on this, somehow.

I don't think it's his political positions that make people revel in his death, it's what he did with his power and whom that affected.

I don't think the Kochs have been saints, that they haven't acted out of self-interest, etc. But I don't know if I've ever even seen a tweet on my timeline about the absolute disgrace that is civil asset forfeiture, and the Kochs have actually cared. Who did that affect?

So, y'know, I was happy when Castro died. So I'm not totally pristine, here. But like, I probably told my wife I was happy and that's it. Here is all that I had to say about it in public:https://twitter.com/jonst0kes/status/802543612894543872 …

I guess my point is, I don't think it's psychotic to sort of privately revel in the death of someone you think is a monster. I've done it.
What's psychotic is doing it in public IMO. - 2 more replies

Reminds me of Slate Star Codex's note on this, in the 'Outgroup' article (2014)

r u kidding me? This is a horrid take. His influence on climate change denial has set our world back DECADES and we r extremely close to the point of no return bc of the policies he pushed. this is like not celebrating hitlers death bc of his work criminalizing smoking.

Not kidding you, and when you're done repeating something you heard from some talking head feel free to actually take the sort of extensive deep dive you'd be capable of if you'd received a remotely decent education from a single person assigned to the task.

It's so refreshing to hear common sense again, thanks. Also quite depressing that it's refreshing.
