Admittedly, transable-identified matches up much better with facetious disorder (DSM-4) than somatic symptom disorder (DSM-5), but at least for FD the diagnostic criteria indicate a desire for the role of a sick person, not ongoing dissatisfaction even after attaining the role
I'd guess it'd be useful to distinguish between people whose desired modification produces an actual lifelong disability & those who desire a modification that would not necessarily require long-term care. "This foot is wrong" seems meaningfully different from "I should be blind"
