In California it takes: • 135 hours’ training to sell real estate (longer than many states) • 1,500 hours’ training to be a barber

Not saying I agree with the training requirements, but there are a lot of health concerns for the customers of a barber. Mason's points are very funny and not all wrong, but there's a significant difference between trusting yourself not to give yourself an infection through...

...poor hygiene and care for the tools used, and trusting a stranger not to give you an infection. It's on you if you are unhygienic with yourself and cause yourself pain and suffering. Someone who works on the broader public has a broader responsibility.

Maybe some degree of training should be required, I don’t know. But 1,500 hours is insane. You can also spread food borne pathogens as a cook at a fast food restaurant and there is usually a half day course required for that. Cosmology schools have screwed customers & workers

When I was a teen, I volunteered at a horse therapy center for disabled children. I handled the horses. If a child had a violent episode on a horse, it was my job to get the horse away from the child while the counselors got the child away from the horse. 1 weekend of training
