I think a career-first life philosophy isn’t the healthiest for most people, men or women. I wish society could work out productivity-smoothing means for people to spread out their productivity over more years while being given more time over a decade to raise young children.
A partner could help the mother to maintain a part-time career by working fewer hours him/herself. But that can be difficult for either partner to do at present.
