Wow. Why would anybody want to provide strong incentives (100k$) to kids to drop out of college?

If he did not have these credentials, the criticism would be that he lacks a personal understanding of the system he seems to be trying to undermine.
I think the most obvious answer is that he doesn't believe college is generally useful for much more than the network, at least for a certain sort of person. Until the fellowship, there weren't alternatives for obtaining the network.

If you think that networks can replace a solid education at a university, then college is not for you, yes.

That was certainly my conclusion after 3 years at college, and yes, I'd have been better off leaving a lot earlier or — at bare minimum — focusing a lot more of my energy on networking
