Cannot begin to describe how short-sighted and frankly stupid a human being needs to be to join a pile-on for a timely & well-publicized retraction, regardless of how little they might think of the publication. Take 30 seconds to think through the implications, ffshttps://twitter.com/clairlemon/status/1159614691385040896 …

every other article they’ve run about debunked, pseudo, hate-science, they’ve never retracted. they’re an avowed white-supremacist propaganda rag, contributing to radicalization with their hate, using this provably false hate-speech. those piling on have skin in the game.

If they have any skin in the game whatsoever, they're even less bright then I'd give them credit for

being assaulted by tikitorch nazis wasn’t stupid, it was more like a vital response to nazis marching. these folks are resisting. by defending quillette you’re defending fascists and nazis. maybe think about that?

I'm defending literally the most basic possible understanding of how incentive structures, rewards and punishments work. If tribalism can't literally melt brains, it's clearly doing the next best thing, and I'll have no part of it thanks

quillette is literally destroying these mechanisms, which i too hold dear. read karl hopper on intolerance of the destroyers of tolerance in democracy.

You don't need to hold "incentive structures, rewards and punishments" dear for them to continue functioning, Quillette is neither capable nor by any stretch attempting to undermine them, & this is an interesting tone for someone who just casually called me a defender of nazism
