If you can't think of the last time you saw anyone in the media try to draw anywhere near the same attention to a retraction as they regularly do for their articles, take a second to ponder why that might be & then try to behave as though you weren't dropped on your head

You learn a lot about human psychology when you see a roomful of law students angry at subsequent remedial measures not being allowed as proof of liability. Something in the human mind rebels against an apparent “free pass”; it’s an artificial norm, kept alive at effort.

every other article they’ve run about debunked, pseudo, hate-science, they’ve never retracted. they’re an avowed white-supremacist propaganda rag, contributing to radicalization with their hate, using this provably false hate-speech. those piling on have skin in the game.

I think what's revealing about the retraction is that for a publication that claims to strive for more than traditional legacy media, their editorial mechanism seems really lacking. They didn't verify or fact check anything inside the article until someone else did.
-
But I can definitely agree with the sentiment that people shouldn't be punished for doing the right thing which it appears they did.
