Everyone is entitled to their own experience, but they're sure AF not entitled to mine, and certainly not for reasons as reductionist as sharing the same genitals or pronouns. SF saved my life.

Woman in Seattle's tech industry here! Everyone in our organization is respected, male or female, American-born or immigrant, & valued for all the contributions they bring. I have never felt marginalized by "techbros" - in fact, our male devs have shown nothing but total respect!

Tech guys who don’t fit the “bro” archetype can be and too often are frequently creepy around women, and we should call that out every single day. That’s a different problem though. Most of the techbro invective is about pigeon holing socially awkward engineers generally.

The complaint I hear is that they are “too introverted” and “don’t engage in the community”. As though new people are obligated to be interested in the same art and culture as incumbents.
