There’s that word again: hometown. I haven’t been able figure out what it means. Where I was born? Where I went to kindergarten? Where I finished high school? Where my parents live? Where I’d prefer to live?

That depends on the country, I'd think! Looking at the uk 2011 census, total population was 56kk, and 33kk live in cities >50k, so it's pretty close!
