Example: all 50 US states independently criminalized marital rape. It took until 1993 to get the last stragglers on board, which is a travesty. Not to mention that not only do many of those countries exclude marital rape from the definition of rape, but that in some of those countries a woman has no right to defend herself if her husband forces himself on her, and she can face criminal liability for assault or murder.
