The Beginning of Infinity by @DavidDeutschOxf Lying by @SamHarrisOrg are probably the 2 books that have most changed the way I think about things in a way that no other books have. As Sam would say, a total firmware Upgrade.

FWIW, I've had a much easier time with David's book than Sam's, despite needing to spend a lot more time with it. I find myself fighting just about everything Sam writes, but FWIW Sam never suggests anything he hasn't himself integrated and seen the consequences of. To a fault.

I can't say I've ever met someone who told me that Bhatia's book "Matrix Analysis" was important to them. But if I did, I'd feel closer to them. Probably Loren Larson's "Problem Solving Through Problems" as well.

meditations, marcus aurelius although it's not a good name. i think he would have found it pretentious... they were notes to himself.

The copyright period is well-past expired, so you could just republish it as Notes To Self by Marcus Aurelius. Here, I made a book cover:pic.twitter.com/FCGf6Coe14

I feel this way mostly about my favorite books from childhood, like The Westing Game or anything by Diana Wynne Jones. I guess as an adult some books that have felt like this were Infinite Jest, The Fifth Head of Cerberus, and Remains of the Day.

Westing Game was great
