Some moonshots have a lot more overhead + challenge prior to meeting impressive benchmarks than others. SpaceX is almost in a class of its own for this reason. I think a demonstrated ability to do things that VCs would've considered near-impossible a priori is a big one

If you do things that look near-impossible, esp more than once, it suggests that your implicit models are superior even to the models the VCs may have. Which is why Elon can try to bore tunnels under LA & turn us into wizards via neural lace & have automatic take-my-money support
