      I think to understand what these folks are trying to do it is critical to understand that they DON'T think the conversations on these issues that *must* happen are currently possible, not just in the public sphere but within the institutions we're trusting to give us solutions

          My model of the good faith anti-IDW position is, broadly, ‘we understand the model, and disagree with the fundamental starting point,’ but even good-faith discourse (on all sides!) tends to interrogate outputs rather than models while@leaving lots of assumptions unspoken
