What is it about "SJW" culture that is preventing a useful discussion of climate change?
It's a very, very hard problem. One of my personal issues is that it's now very popular on the left to promise you'll solve climate change AND inequity in one perfect plan, which means if *your* plan doesn't do that it can't gain momentum even if it has a better shot at working.
Indeed; and when the #GreenNewDeal came out, I was one of the first to heavily criticise it for not being about stopping climate-change at all. Its principal author has even boasted as much. IOW, these people are not helping one tiny bit.
I don't think that's a correct read of the politics. The reality is that climate change has almost no political constituency, and so the only way to build support for doing things we have to do is to pair it with something more popular.
(Or at least that's the motivation for framing it this way, and pairing New Deal and Green. Other plans don't take off because no one cares enough about climate change on its own.)
