When you're depressed — a diagnosis I also had by the age of 14 and have been treated for — the choices you *can* make are very, very small. At first. They get bigger and better. But you never have *no* choices, and that itself a very dangerous thing to believe.

These choices are different from "choose to be happy". Of course choices can help or hinder your happiness, but it's a completely different thing. I can do all the helpful choices and still feel like shit; I can do all the wrong choices and feel bubbly.
