Had to see if I did, after reading this I pledge allegiance - to the flag - of the United States of America - and to the republic - for which it stands - one nation - under God - indivisible - with liberty and justice for all Even the cadence, you're right
SAME CADENCE. Eery, man
Just a little bit of national religiosity. Strange? Yes, in some respects, though I'd guess many kids have similar group traditions at school. Harmful? Probably not. Maybe even helpful - people have little in common across the political divide, but we have this.

I objected to the pledge in 10th grade to my Spanish teacher. Just the weirdness of the forceful recitation. She chewed me out in front of the class. Later blamed the Columbine massacre on us. Unsure of the connection.
Much to do with that age group where your brain is a sponge and you’re more susceptible to your environment. Thoughts?
I think humans just have a knack for remembering songs and its an underutilized teaching method, we learn the pledge and ABCs in song form then nothing else!
