I'm not prone to disgust, but the housing crisis *disgusts* me & I think it's because it violates a deeper recurring narrative reflecting a biological path-end: the old enriching themselves on the young, to the extent that they're crippled in the critical work of family-building.

It’s cheaper to live on the Amalfi Coast than downtown Naples, and this is for a very specific reason. People build families in both places. I know I paid a premium to be exposed to a larger pool when I was dating.

That's a part of the story. Being a part of a thriving and stimulating community, a city, has value beyond dating. An attitude I've heard from NIMBYs in Sydney is that any new housing should be built in satellite areas, an hour or more from the city.
