Interesting! I'm totally a memory palace person and I actually store information with location of where it was encountered. I often visualise the place first then the information re-emerges. On the other hand, I do notice underlying patterns in such a matter of fact way, that it

feels not to be happening in my head, but in my body. (Like it is beyond vision or language, beyond interpretation, in a way). This visualisation for me only occurs with *texts*. I grasp any text's architecture very clearly, and deal with it in a structural way.

Yep, began to notice this at ~15 yo. My best friend and I wrote stories for each other at the time. Hers had a stunningly acute, naturalistic portrayal of the world (she’s a biologist), mine was almost entirely interior, vividly describing a non-physical abstract space.

For a while, I thought there was something wrong with me. Then I noticed a pattern; a blurring of time, and that when I read someone’s work for a while, I can feel like I’m reading from *inside their mind. I don’t know if that makes sense.

I think I’m the same way! What are some of those tests meant to exclude aphantasia?

Do you enjoy description of scenery in fiction? I hate it, because I can't visualize it. The author spends two pages on trees and lakes and birds and hills and all that sticks in my mind is "we're in the woods".

I can easily navigate a complex physical space and rotate objects in my mind, but can't visualize much more than a dim triangle.
