You're acknowledging that you understand that I'm trying to play the meta game, but giving me nothing to respond to that won't drag me back into the object-level game. That's why we're trapped in a loop where I can't do anything except tread water while pointing at the meta game

Maybe we are actually not that far apart. I think the IDW is right about the decline of traditional media and is often right to criticize some of its properties. Yet an intellectually honest person would then go on and police the "alternative media" just as much or more for sim.

To police the "alternative media" just as much is to acknowledge that /u/50Shades is functionally equivalent to the New York Times, which is something I don't think any of the IDW folks are comfortable doing

Yes, but there are plenty of examples of Ben Shapiro or Jordan Peterson or similar people being deceptive as fuck and they don't get the same full-frontal treatment that the mainstream media gets even though the people that get their news or politics from them are probably more

likely to believe them.

I really don't believe that Jordan Peterson ever intends to deceive, though he may be wrong and certainly hyperbolic. I don't think there's ever been any hesitation within the IDW to talk openly about disagreement. There's a lot of it.

I don't know whether JP intends to deceive or not, but I don't know that about the media either. The disagreement happens over safe issues", not over the ones that define the IDW. For example many of JP's claims about C-16 were wildly exaggerated, no criticism as of yet from IDW.

I don't know the details, and I think I'm going to have to tap out... I really can't come up with more ways to say that I'm not interested in playing the object-level game with you. At this point, I think you may be doing this purposefully and I don't appreciate it.

Please do, but I also find it a bit disingenuous to post one screenshot, claim that to be a meta-level phenomenon and then just discount everything on the other side, even if there are plenty of examples for it.

You're welcome to cut reality along different joints from me. You're welcome to attribute whatever you like to me. I'm not going to play a game I don't want to play with you.

FWIW... I never claimed the hat was a "meta level phenomenon." It's something we can talk about on the meta level *or* the object level. I wasn't discounting "the other side," because I never disagreed with you re: the ubiquity of the object-level occurrence of tribal signaling.

I'm deeply frustrated with my own inability to communicate why I'm trying to keep these layers discrete. It's incredibly difficult to have these conversations as soon as I'm laying out a case for or against Dave Rubin, social harms caused by C-16, or pink hair, that convo is done
