This is a different criticism than the one that is often made by IDW members though I feel. A few of the news sites that you posted a screencap of actually lean conservative (NY Post, Washington Examiner). Yet there is often a very clear political label attached to this criticism

I definitely agree with you that there are people in the IDW that are essentially just doing it to decentralize narratives. That's all fine, but you still have a significant amount of people who pander even more recklessly than any "mainstream media" source. E.g. @RubinReport

You're acknowledging that you understand that I'm trying to play the meta game, but giving me nothing to respond to that won't drag me back into the object-level game. That's why we're trapped in a loop where I can't do anything except tread water while pointing at the meta game

Maybe we are actually not that far apart. I think the IDW is right about the decline of traditional media and is often right to criticize some of its properties. Yet an intellectually honest person would then go on and police the "alternative media" just as much or more for sim.

To police the "alternative media" just as much is to acknowledge that /u/50Shades is functionally equivalent to the New York Times, which is something I don't think any of the IDW folks are comfortable doing
