I'm curious to see how this shifts the whole field's strategies. Harris was able to capture a moment to make herself functionally unmoderatable — extremely visibly — and she used it to set crosshairs on the frontrunner's Achilles heel. Good for democracy? No. But masterful AF.

You don't even have to be paying attention to notice that there aren't actually any time limits, and what's said does not need to answer questions. The goal of the game is to talk for as long as you can, always appear to stop talking by choice & cut opponents off whenever doable.

Yeah, there's no getting around the primal urge for dominance competition. The best we can do is build a system that counteracts it. If that means the people who only want entertainment don't tune in, that's probably a plus. This is also why I'm for banning all campaigning.

I think the lust for tribalism and dominance competition has increased in proportion to the extent to which we've attempted to sanitize modern society of it. And the absence of its flipside -- tribal belonging -- is responsible for much of the mental health epidemic.
