One thing that from my perspective is unbelievable: there are few to none student from the US studying in Germany, even though there are some 100% English taught degrees. Cost of living and studying here is less than what college costs in the US.
Staggering loans are assumed and fully normalized here. The consistent message on the ground for children of all ages is that college is essentially a sure thing; all anyone should worry about is getting admitted to a 4-year program. I'm shocked this persists, but it does
