The thesis of our current zeitgeist, what we have now is not tolerable.
Signing for 5-6 figure debt is a big decision. Teens need more context — e.g., that <40% graduate in 4 years & they're stuck w/ the debt whether or not they graduate
When you have well over $1T in outstanding debt & overwhelming default rates on loans for a product sold nearly entirely on the premise that it increases income well beyond its costs, I have to admit that I don't see a way to reasonably part with the zeitgeist as you describe it.

I completely agree with this. I just find it kinda interesting that edu is the institutional nude emperor that everyone's awareness seems to be converging on. And I think that there's similar gathering sentiment about other things, and many more bare asses to be exposed

I'm optimistic bc I think that there could be a lot of space opening up for real improvement in edu in the near future because of this. And the stuff you've been talking about is a signal of this and I think that the work done in edu will be a bellwether for fixing other problems
