Do you think a motion detecting camera would even work with cats?

Not well. Cats have 3 phases of activity 1. Highly active, reckless, unpredictable — burns battery quickly & results in a lot of nonsense recordings 2. Total stillness 3. The cat is gone. Everyone in the household is deceased, apparently by their own hand. Police are baffled
