I don't see that as hypocrisy, it's more like politeness: it's more acceptable to criticize your own group than other groups. Conservative Christian traditions are "our business," hijabs aren't.

I think the difficulty is that for many people on the left, they themselves aren't conservative Christian, they don't have any friends that are, their family isn't. At what point does it stop being "our business"?
