Fortunately, it seems a lot of people can make some gains even with an incompetent therapist, assuming they're the sort of people who can benefit from a very procedural protocol (like CBT or DBT) & the their therapists are relatively nice people who stick to the script

But people who spend a lot of time introspecting & require many years to find a mind-tribe are IMO unlikely to benefit from mid-tier therapy. They may even regress. It can be very damaging to seek help from someone whose assumptions are wrong for you & who can't update quickly
