Have you tried to live in DC, maintain 2 houses (one in your district) and travel back and forth. 174K would get eaten up pretty quick. Especially if your other home is New York

You're saying that $174k would get "eaten up pretty quick" by a residence in each district, plus travel expenses between the two. I'm asking you how it is that the combined salaries of two median *families* in those locations + $30,000 for travel is insufficient. Useless, indeed.
