SFs refusal to build more housing at the expense of dropping property value is a very short-sighted move. Every day it seems like I hear about more companies moving out of SF to start somewhere else or foregoing SF completely.

SF is built out from corner to corner. It’s time to think about exporting the jobs rather than import more people.

Not by fiat, by natural supply and demand.

There is nothing natural about SF residential zoning rules.

There’s nothing natural about forcing people into higher density and packed quarters either.

WTF are you talking about? There's *immense* unmet demand for apartments from people, like myself, who enjoy apartment living near the urban center. There are developers who want to build these homes. What a gross pseudo-savior complex.

If you don't want me as a neighbor because you like things as they are, fine. But own it, because I do have to rest my head somewhere in the night and I do not want there to be any lack of clarity on the fact that people like you are not helping people like me.

By the way, if you'd like to see people "forced into higher density and packed quarters," I invite you to look around the SFBA and see how lower-income folks are living now. I know people who literally sleep in closets. My DT Berkeley neighbors had four bunk beds to a room.
